The Bank of Elk River Saddened by the Passing of Board Director Catherine Babcock
The Bank of Elk River is saddened to announce that longtime Board Director Catherine Babcock has passed away.
Catherine served as a member of the Board of Directors for The Bank of Elk River and the bank's holding company, Metro North BancShares, Inc. She was sister to The Bank of Elk River's Chairman, CEO, and President John Babcock, and four other siblings. Catherine's experience, leadership, and insight helped guide the organization to key milestones over her tenure.
Catherine received a bachelor's degree from Macalester College and went on to obtain a master's degree in Public and Arts Administration from the University of Washington. Catherine made a significant impact serving as the Director of Marketing and Communications at the Walt Disney Concert Hall, home to the Los Angeles Philharmonic and one of the nation's largest performance halls. Catherine also used her strategic vision, communication skills, and public relations talents with the Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens; the Los Angeles Opera; the Colburn School; and Camerata Pacifica.
“Catherine was deeply interested and committed to the bank's mission of helping our customers succeed,” said John Babcock. “Her insight, wisdom, and genuine interest in the communities the bank served will be truly missed.”
A formal obituary will be published in the coming weeks. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Friends In Deed at friendsindeedpas.org. Cards for the Babcock family can be sent to The Bank of Elk River, 630 Main Street, Elk River, MN 55330.
